Position Information: The Customer Service Representative is directly responsible for selling at dealership gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction standards. Must be friendly, professional and efficient when working with all customers, both on the phone and in person.

Duties and Respnsibilities: Realize that business is built on customer satisfaction and devote him/herself to guaranteeing satisfaction to customers.

Follow the Thomas Process on each customer opportunity.

  • Determine each customer's vehicle needs by asking questions and listening.
  • Demonstrate new vehicles (includes test drives).
  • Deliver new vehicles to customers. This process ensures that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty and paperwork, and it lays the foundation for customer loyalty.
  • Take incoming phone calls.
  • Place follow-up and reminder calls.
  • Attend sales meetings.
  • Maintain an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contritributes to customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a prospect development system with 8 prospect calls per day.
  • Keep abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to customers.
  • Establish personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity.
  • Report to the Sales Manager regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews and analysis.
  • Review and analyze actions at the end of each day, week, month and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
  • Understand the terminology of the automobile business and keep abreast of the technological changes of the product.
  • Know and understand equity and values, and be able to explain depreciation to the customer.
  • Know and understand the federal, state and local laws that govern retail auto sales.
  • Introduce customers to the service department personnel to emphasize to customers the quality and efficiency of the dealership's service operations.

Position Information: The General Service Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards. S/he also will oversee the work of any apprentice technician assigned to him/her.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive repair orders from dispatcher and take to stall area.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
  • Advise service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Document work performed.
  • Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.

  • Wash vehicle exterior, using cleaning solution, water, cloths, and brushes.
  • Apply wax to auto body, and wipe or buff service to protect surface and preserve shine, using cloth or buffing machine.
  • Vacuum interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris, using vacuum cleaner.
  • Clean upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.
  • Apply revitalizers and preservation agents to vinyl or leather surfaces and treat fabrics with spot and stain-resistant chemicals to preserve and protect interior components.
  • Clean engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents to remove grease and grime.
  • Apply special-purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following recommendations of the product's manufacturer.
  • Paint engine components and related parts, using spray gun or aerosol can and masking materials.
  • Apply paint to chipped body surfaces of vehicles, using touch-up paint.
  • Apply dyes and reconditioning chemicals to vinyl tops of vehicles to restore color and condition.

Body Shop Prep & Paint

Auto Body Technician: Prep & Paint

Position Information: The Auto Body Technician prepares and applies paint to repaired vehicles. They may also repair damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accodance with factory and dealership specifications, using hand tools and power tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examine damaged vehicles and estimate repair costs.
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window and seat operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fenders.
  • Position dolly block against surface of dented area and beat opposite surface to remove dents, using hammer.
  • Fill depressions with body filler, using putty knife.
  • Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch.
  • Bolt or weld replacement parts in position, using wrenches or welding equipment.
  • Straighten bent automobile frames, using a pneumatic frame straightening machine.
  • File, grind and sand repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
  • Refinish repaired surface, using paint spray gun and sander.
  • Aim headlights, align wheels and bleed hydraulic brake system.
  • Paint surfaces after performing body repairs.
  • Repair or replace defective mechanical parts.

Qualifications: ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Working knowledge of all aspects of repairs for damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles. Valid driver's license. Ability to interpret vendor catalogs. Two years of experience in auto body repair.
